
In the latest update on the Vadodara car crash, a 20-year-old law student has denied being drunk during a crash on Thursday that killed a woman and injured several others.
He also claimed that the accident happened as his view was blocked by the emergency airbag and denied that he was speeding.
What Did He Say?Speaking to the media on Saturday, the accused, named Rakshit Chaurasia, said, "We were going ahead of a scooty, we were turning right and there was a pothole on the road. There was a scooty and a car parked near the right turn. Our car touched the scooter and the airbags opened. After that I couldn't tell where the car went," he said, adding that the car was at the speed of 50-60 kmph at the time of the accident.

— ANI (@ANI) March 15, 2025 'Another Round' Video Viral On Social MediaA video has also emerged from the accident spot, in which Rakshit Chaurasia is seen getting out of the car after the accident and shouting "another round" while bystanders try to catch him and injured people lie scattered on the ground.

Changes In StatementAccording to the reports,66jogo Rakshit, first said he had not consumed any intoxicants but later admitted to consuming cannabis.

"I was told a woman has died and some people have been injured. I want to meet the families of the victims, it is my fault, and whatever they want should happen," he said.
When The Accident Happened?On Thursday, the accident took place around 12:30 am on a night near the Karelibagh area. Following this, Rakshit Chaurasia was arrested. He hails from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and is studying law at a university in Vadodara.
The second accused in the case, who is the owner of the car and was travelling with Chaurasia at the time of the accident, has also been arrested. He has been identified as Mit Chauhan, who lives in Vadodara and is a student at a private university, reports suggest.
He hit four people with the car, including a woman who was riding a scooter at the time.According to a report by India Today, the woman, identified as Hemani Patel, had gone out to buy Holi colours with her minor daughter and died on the spot.
Three others, including the child, were rushed to a nearby hospital after emergency services went to the scene.
What Did The Police Say?After the arrest of Rakshit Chaurasia from the accident spot, police said that he was indeed drunk and was driving at a high speed.
"The car belonged to his friend Mit Chauhan, who was sitting in the co-driver’s seat when Chaurasia rammed the car into some two-wheelers at full speed while going towards Muktanand circleaj-christmaspg," senior cop Panna Momaya said, as quoted by HT.
